To best serve current and future generations, structures and infrastructure (i.e., physical systems) need to be resilient in the face of disruptions (i.e., climate change, growing population, natural hazards and threats from terrorism). At the same time, policy makers, engineering and stake holders need to make conscious and sustainable use of limited resources. This book presents the current state of and future directions in the development of sustainable and resilient physical systems.
