ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the facilitation of tutor-led peer supervision groups within the BA (Hons) Creative Expressive and Master of Arts dramatherapy programmes at the University of Derby. It demonstrates some of the similarities between tutor-led peer supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels of learning but also how they differ in order to meet the requirements and expectations of each programme of study. The chapter examines some of the theoretical and professional underpinnings in tutor-led peer group supervision as a reflective, reflexive, creative and learning process, where supervisees feel safe enough to participate and therefore not ‘hide’. Students develop as reflective practitioners who are able to facilitate creative arts workshops for groups within arts in health, health, education, youth and community settings. The BA (Hons) Creative Expressive Therapies programme attracts students who have not only developed skills in their art form but have also experienced the empowering potential of the arts.
