ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The impacts of corruption scandals have been global. In the global economy of interdependence and interconnected economies, a one corruption scandal in country is likely to have an impact in others; either because of the involvement of a trans-national corporation or the movement of money across countries. Throughout the countries examined, the anti-corruption initiatives and their success are somewhat limited and or seemingly slow. The effectiveness of any anti-corruption measures will also depend on the fundamental underlying assumptions that make about the nature of people. This book has been shown that there is not one specific issue that leads to a corruption scandal. The media's involvement of societal actors has been shown to be highly relevant in a number of cases. The role of the media in investigating and exposing corruption is pivotal.
