ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the consequences of research information being both greater in terms of quantity, and easier to access. It also explores how teachers gain access to research evidence and looks at how access to virtual communities of colleagues is becoming a popular way to access and discusses professional knowledge. The chapter considers the pitfalls that the brings, and explores how teachers and school leaders exercise discernment in their choice and use of research information. A lot of information is available to schools, particularly through social media and online sites which have the advantage of overcoming geographical and temporal constraints. The Senior Leaders spoke to felt they were making good use of social media sites and were positive about the possibilities that this digitally enabled network of national and international colleagues afforded them in terms of access to research evidence.
