ABSTRACT

The original “multivariate” assessment of Madeline was provided by an administration of a self and an informant version of the NEO Personality Inventory Revised (NEO PI-R; Costa & McCrae, 1992), interpreted by Costa and Piedmont (2003). The NEO PI-R provides a description with respect to the 5 domains and 30 facets of the Five-Factor Model (FFM) personality structure. Approximately 17 years later, Madeline and a close confidant have again completed the self and informant versions of the NEO PI-R, respectively. In this chapter, we compare the original and current NEO PI-R FFM profiles, with respect to both adaptive and maladaptive personality traits. The congruency over a 17-year span of time was striking, as well as the agreement with the informants, and the agreement across the informants over time. There were though some notable disagreements between the self and informant descriptions, which adds to the interest and richness of this multivariate assessment.
