ABSTRACT

From multi-national pipeline projects to bold offshore exploration campaigns, Turkey has grown into a significant energy player in its immediate region in the last two decades. This chapter explores the legal, financial, and political drivers that have contributed to the country’s growing significance in regional energy politics from a historical point of view. In addition, the chapter offers a review of some of the influential works on Turkey’s energy policy, economics, consumption, and production dynamics, as well as an overview of the most pressing issues that influence Turkish energy policy decision-making.
