ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a different educational task, one that is framed by the geo-historical condition; the species finds itself in, that of the Anthropocene. It explores whether 'cosmic' artisan(s) are able to make inroads to engender such an educational task. The chapter focuses on two premises. The first is that the event of the Anthopocene has already happened, and with it has emerged a two-fold ethical question that continually shapes the incorporeality of this event. The second premise is that our species' extinction is conceivable, and that this consequence has already happened in a probable future. The chapter also focuses on a post-human cosmic artisan for clearly the nature|culture divide no longer exists—this state of affairs pertains to both the nonhuman and inhuman interactions with the species. The classical artist was charged with the task that was God's own. He was to confront chaos and creatively organize raw and untamed matter to generate a stable relationship between form and content.
