ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the digital signage and its most common applications. Digital signage is a network of digital displays that are centrally managed and addressable for the targeted information, entertainment, merchandising, and advertising. Digital signage is considered "place-based media" that relays pertinent information at the right time, in the right place, and to the right audience. Digital signage displays are used to deliver content with a targeted message. A multichannel player is a digital signage player that is capable of outputting multiple streams of unique content to multiple display devices. Digital sign displays may be LCD or plasma screens, LED boards, projection screens, or other emerging display types like interactive surfaces or organic LED screens. The playlog is a record of information created from the digital signage system that reflects the content played, the system performance, and other data.
