Physical barriers are used to control, impede, or deny access and to direct the flow of personnel through designated portals. Barrier system effectiveness is measured against specific standards and performances testing; specifically to reduce the number of entry and exit paths, facilitate effective use of protective force personnel, delay the adversary so the threat can be assessed, and protect personnel from hostile action and channel adversaries into preplanned neutralization zones.
