ABSTRACT

Gandhi claimed that his life was an indivisible whole, that all his activities sprang from his “insatiable love of mankind” (Gandhi, 1934). This chapter will examine that claim and attempt to explain it from a slightly different viewpoint: that they all had their rise from a single vision of humanity that is radically different from the implicit vision that prevails today, at least in the industrial world, and that is a desperately needed corrective to that vision. Emphasis will be on Gandhian economics, explaining its seamless connection with his politics, his famous method of struggle (nonviolence), and even health.
