ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the applications of network analysis as a conceptual and methodological tool for examining global education policy. We argue that network analysis offers a uniquely fitting approach to studying the current era of international education, characterized by a growing and multifaceted array of actors and organizations, and such trends as public-private partnerships, policy networks, and cross-border flows of information. Drawing from research that employs social network analysis (SNA), network ethnography, and bibliometrics, the chapter aims to inform and extend the literature on global education networks – an emerging area of scholarship deserving of greater attention by the comparative and international education academic community.
