ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book reports on a multilingual recipient evaluation of web content that has been created according to two different sets of guidelines, and then translated using machine translation. It introduces a corpus-based rhetorical approach to the evaluation of translation to see how faithful it is to the original in calling on the audience for similar actions intended for the original audience. The book analyze the term extraction results from existing tools, and discusses how factors such as output quality, software design, user expectation, and work habit, might affect the general perception of these tools. It examines the issues of language in Machine Translation between English and Kiswahili. The chapter explores the advantages brought by the computer translation development in doing free translation.
