ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a comparative study of the performances of four different term extraction algorithms for bilingual text (English and Chinese) through an experiment, hoping to provide insight for improving the performance of term extraction tools. It aims to investigate the term extraction performance of a method that combines several algorithms in identifying terms in an English-Chinese translation project. Since 1978, China has been undergoing a process of rapid social, economic and cultural transition due to its practice of reform and opening up to the outside world. A statistical approach to term extraction is to identify the candidate term by frequency. However, term-extraction tools that use a linguistic approach or statistical approach have drawbacks of one kind or another during the process of term extraction. The text imported is required to be. txt format, and the imported text will be displayed in the small window at the top of the interface of the tool.
