ABSTRACT

As Colombian society steps from the twilight of an armed conflict into a critical political transition, the implications of knowledge production regarding that violent past and present must be scrutinized. Thus, in order to be able to understand the links between transitional justice and education, the first step is to understand how knowledge about war in Colombia has been produced and reproduced. The study of knowledge transfer requires special attention in educational spaces. The school is a space designed to produce and transmit knowledge with the potential to join together other sites of pedagogical efforts. Students in Colombia learn about Colombia's past through television (28.1" of the total sources mentioned), mainly through news broadcasts, but also through particular television series. When students were asked about the causes leading to the armed conflict it was interesting to note there was no dominant answer though 'ideological differences' did stand out slightly.
