ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with a commentary on the present Zeitgeist that threatens world societies by the rise of populism, totalitarianism, and dictatorships. It presents critiques about trajectory of graduate studies in leadership education. Niccolo Machiavelli, surely one of the most controversial commentators of all times concerning issues of prudent leadership, makes a cameo appearance as offering theoretical and practical lessons in leadership. The chapter reviews the influence of global and neoliberalism ideologies in matters of higher education. It focuses on specific recommendations for foundational content and pedagogy at the graduate level. The chapter discusses issues of administrative responsibility, holding to account administrators and teachers of higher education for the decisions that short-change students and their larger communities. The realm of values calls for reflection upon moral philosophy, logical fallacies, and practical problems that recur in schools and community service.
