ABSTRACT

The increasing demand to publish research papers in international journals has raised great interest in courses of English for research publication purposes (ERPP) in higher education settings. This chapter describes four institutional initiatives undertaken at the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos (UNER) in Argentina that provide English language and literacy support for scholars and students with English as an additional language on their way to publishing in high-status English-medium international journals. We draw on an academic literacies framework to emphasize the importance of not just guiding students and scholars to master the appropriate linguistic conventions, but also in addressing the politics of English-language knowledge production.
