ABSTRACT

Current requirements of the novel therapeutic treatments have led to the designing of composite materials with superior clinical properties compared with their individual counterparts. The inclusion of nanostructures of different nature into cross-linked polymer networks allows obtaining nanocomposite hydrogels with suitable multifuncionalities for drug delivery applications. This chapter reviews the main contributions and general limitations of the recent researches regarding the use of nanocomposite hydrogels of different compositions in drug delivery field.
