ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses making the best use of innovative technical methods so as to respond to the growing challenges of different aspects that influence interplant water network design. Cost-effective solutions are always key to ensuring adequate levels of water security in any industrial setting. Water infrastructure also creates many challenges, especially when it comes to attaining cost-effective water exchange network designs for an industrial community, so as to meet current and emerging water demand through wastewater reuse and treatment options. Water flow rate and quality information, associated with each source and sink, are considered essential pieces of information that need to be provided in order to achieve a water exchange network design. Identifying any high impact interprocess and intraprocess streams, which have significant effects on industrial city water use, treatment, and discharge requirements, is necessary.
