A Review of Campus Shootings book
This chapter looks at issues surrounding school shootings and addresses the problems they present for law enforcement. It discusses many issues related to school shootings, but in the end the first responders have been and should continue to be well-trained and prepared law enforcement officers. On the other side of the argument, allowing everyone who enters a campus to bring a weapon might make potential attackers go elsewhere or even deter random shooters. Every time a school shooting occurs, the debate generally centers on a short list of topics that include the following are Predicting shooters, Gun control versus carry on campus, Closed versus open campuses, Arming teachers, Mental health screening of students and staff, Identifying potential threats, and the appropriate law enforcement response. More people drown in boating accidents in a year than are killed in school shootings but people refuse to wear life jackets.
