ABSTRACT

Conversaciones sobre Kierkegaard is an homage to Søren Kierkegaard on the bicentennial of his birth. Nevertheless, despite its good intentions, the work only keeps its promises to a very minimal degree. The book has some limitations, which makes it confusing and inadequate as a fruitful presentation of Kierkegaard's thought. First, the articles are excessively short. Second, the chapters are not well coordinated or thematically structured, and many of them repeat one another. Third, the quality of the contributions is considerably varied. There are, however, two positive aspects of the book. On the one hand, Kierkegaard's biography, even if a very basic introduction, is generally correct, and it is profusely illustrated with quotations from Kierkegaard's personal writings which are not otherwise translated into Spanish. Chapters such as those of Caputo, Rocca, Green, and Hannay really make this publication valuable, but their brevity, unfortunately, does not allow for deeper commentary. In short, this work has only a documentary and testimonial value.
