ABSTRACT

If a school is to confront the issue of bullying in an effective and meaningful way then there needs to be an understanding amongst the whole staff about the approach; its aims and objectives. There is a need for the coordination of ideas and for access to all pupils through the curriculum. This might be through Drama, PSE or tutorial time, but without this access then a school will not be able to meet its objectives. The school is an 11–16 Comprehensive with approximately 800 pupils. It shares the teaching and administration of the Sixth Form Centre, which houses some 200 students. It is situated in a relatively affluent suburb of Nottingham where housing is almost entirely private and comparatively quite expensive. There are other ways of raising the awareness through poetry, essay writing, drama and art work.
