ABSTRACT
This chapter reflects on the diverse range of coercive medico-legal interventions that have been introduced over time in relation to people deemed to be unable to make competent decisions about their health, such as minors, people with mental illness, disability and/or problematic alcohol or drug use. The chapter also outlines the orientation and structure of the collection as a whole and in its four separate parts.
