ABSTRACT
This chapter observes the in-school and out-of-school components of the comprehensive educational program at the Eagle Academy. The philosophy of the Eagle Academy honors and supports the role of the family in the ultimate success of their students. The Eagle Academy for Young Men is a public educational environment designed to optimize the educational achievement of Black and Hispanic young men. The Eagle Academy's mission states that they challenge their students to "be citizens of integrity who will become lifelong leaders through team building and servicing our community". Supplementary activities at Eagle Academy are designed to reduce the amount of idle time that that the young men have. The Summer Bridge program for entering freshmen is important component of the Eagle Academy's comprehensive plan, helping students to transition from middle school to high school and the Eagle culture. Programs of External Participation include summer enrichment activities, internships, and opportunities for summer and holiday international travel.
