ABSTRACT

Prejudices are detrimental to social relationships in general, and reducing prejudices is an important issue. Some research studies have focused on the effects of changes in the social context (e.g. public politics, education, and work contexts). Other projects have focused on the effects of psychological variables like those presented in the present chapter. In this chapter, three studies are summarized which explore the impact of cross-cultural musical programs to change racial and national prejudices. Overall results of these three studies support the assumption that cross-cultural musical programs can reduce prejudices.
