ABSTRACT

Extant research has found that artistic and cultural activities such as singing and music can bring many benefits to Francophones living in a linguistic minority community. Building on this research, this study investigated a multigenerational choir in Eastern Ontario (Canada). The study participants reported that the choir gave them a sense of autonomy, having freely joined the choir because they enjoy singing; a sense of competence in music and in their knowledge of the French language and culture; and a sense of relatedness within the Francophone community.
