ABSTRACT

The human voice is a unique living organism that responds to the internal and external changes in the singer’s body. Performance anxiety is usually considered to manifest itself in negative changes in mental and physical condition. The chapter discusses how professional singers maintain an optimal psychological and physical state for their performances and how students of singing cope with performance anxiety. According to the results, all professional singers had developed strategies in order to cope with and maintain physical and psychological readiness for performing while students’ voices were negatively affected by unfavorable conditions and rush.
