ABSTRACT

The notion of public value (PV) has been widely discussed in the literature but mostly in the context of public management, policy or politics. To advance the discussion on PV creation, value may be studied as an interdependent activity within the public sphere through activities carried out by both the public sector and private organizations, groups and individuals, beyond social enterprises. The institutional context of entrepreneurship consists of the formal and informal institutions that influence women’s ability to succeed in business and to create value from it. Participation in entrepreneurship can be a way for women to access the networks that enable them to exploit opportunities and create more value. Entrepreneurship is a complex phenomenon that involves a range of inputs and outputs. Entrepreneurship improves their personal bargaining power, which can promote their personal growth and development and improve their overall well-being and quality of life.
