ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the origins and design of the Knowledge Exchange Seminar Series (KESS) model. Working closely together, they designed the KESS model; one that would provide a non-partisan forum in which relevant, objective, robust, evidence-based academic research findings could be presented in an accessible manner, in order to facilitate subsequent discussion among key players, ultimately aiming to promote evidence-led policy and law-making. The Annual Programme is formulated following an open KESS bid at all three university partners for academic research finding presentations. The applications are reviewed by the KESS Panel, which – amongst other things – determines whether the proposed presentation/s form/s part of the Programme. KESS academic workshops serve to facilitate those relationships by better equipping academics to participate in KESS, e.g. when compiling their Policy Briefings and power point presentations, helping them to meet Assembly committee’s unique information and research needs.
