ABSTRACT

The topic of entrepreneurship has become of main importance in the structure of support that universities provide to their students. However, in Latin America the sources of statistical information and research to characterize the profile of the university entrepreneur are still embryonic, making it difficult to design and to make product development support adapted to the needs of university entrepreneurs. Nowadays the access to several information systems is strategic for the investigation in different areas and to support decision making. There is a wide development in the theory regarding university entrepreneurship in general. The promotion of the entrepreneurship is an important area in the support structure that universities give to their students as part of the current educational and economic command that has been given to these institutions. The interest in university entrepreneurship initiated in EAN University, Colombia. Spin-off is an Anglo-Saxon term that refers to a project born as an extension of a previous one.
