ABSTRACT

On April 12, 2015, via YouTube video, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced, for the second time, her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination. In January of 2007, Hillary Clinton, the junior senator from New York, entered the race for the Democratic nomination for president with a video announcement on her website. Office space was leased in early April of 2015 in Brooklyn, New York, days before Clinton made her formal announcement on YouTube. The rest of the Democratic debates took place on Sunday nights or weeknights as the primaries and caucuses unfolded, and ultimately these later debates became an opportunity to see Clinton and Sanders thoroughly engage each other on their visions for the country and the contrast in their policy positions. In the end, Clinton won the Democratic nomination by securing 16.8 million votes during the nomination contest, compared with Sanders's total of 13.2 million.
