ABSTRACT

Defining specialist, specialist work and specialist organizations can be complicated. Also, leading a specialist can be challenging; a specialist needs both freedom and feedback from his supervisor. Specialists possess high-level knowledge, but at the same time, they can be demanding, intelligent and autonomous people that may be narcissistic characters. The motivation of specialists is internal, and they often want to be self-directed. In this kind of situation, the task of the manager is to ensure that the specialists can invest their work and do the best they can. For the sake of motivation, it is important to maintain support, trust and encouragement between both parties.
