ABSTRACT

This chapter engages with advances in feminist geographies of caring masculinities, drawing on developments in the geographic literatures about care, caring, masculinities, ageing and the lifecourse. Findings are presented from two empirical studies conducted by the author on the geographies of grandfathering, comparing men from resourced families with those living on a low income. The findings presented highlight the range of contexts in which the production and practices of caring masculinities might be possible and encouraged to flourish, and also where they continue to be viewed with caution.
