ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book shares the stories of others, who like us, built new relationships. In conversations, they uncover things long forgotten, and recovered with new insight, new possibility. The book presents new pathways and possibilities for the children brought to life by collaborations of mutual respect, love, and a genuine desire to create more just futures for all children. It represents a collaboration between academics and practitioners, igniting one another's work through conversation. The book describes how this work comes to life during a time of deep national political unrest and volatility. It illustrates the critical work brought forth through collaborations between academic practice, theory, and everyday experiencers, out and about in places. The book demonstrates the nuances of pedagogical narration and the richness that emerges from this particular stance both for children, practitioners, and theorists.
