ABSTRACT

This chapter speaks to need for a new type of leadership to enable blended learning to situate itself within the timely and crucial Higher Education Reform (HER) agenda; an agenda that supports a higher education response to its changing landscape. It argues that the implementation of blended learning, with the necessary ongoing leadership practice, will offers innovation supportive of necessary reform: improved teaching and learning, learning outcomes, access, flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and provides digital literacy competence needed for living, working, and learning in a digital world. New leadership for blended learning and higher education reform requires leaders to develop adaptive and collaborative leadership skills, with the courage to work with to find ways of doing different things in different ways. New leadership requires leaders to understand the needs of their institution, its faculty, students, and staff in relationship to blended learning and the affordances of technology.
