ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the relationship between various environmental aspects and employees’ satisfaction with their workplace. Building occupant survey data was analysed to estimate the relative significance of different environmental qualities on employees’ overall evaluation of the workplace. The empirical analysis suggested that the significance of a workplace environmental factor differs depending on how it is perceived by employees, indicating that a certain amount of input doesn’t necessarily translate into commensurately desirable output in workplace environment management. The chapter also addresses how gender, proximity to window, and degree of workspace enclosure are associated with employee wellbeing and satisfaction in the workplace.
