ABSTRACT

From its outset, INFOCORE has been ambitious. The research project itself and this book were designed to probe and explain ways in which various media venues provide information about preventing and resolving conflict and sustaining post-conflict stabilization. The study covered the construction of news and reached as far as news-informed public discourse. Such topics are not new; other researchers – including many of those who have worked with INFOCORE – have studied and written about these matters in the past. But rare is the project that has addressed so many facets of the issues that have been examined in the preceding chapters.
