ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors focus on how Indigenous methodologies are taken up in the context our College, as they believe their experiences are shared by many other institutions across the country. They explore a synthesis of major themes that emerged from our meetings, which were transcribed and coded. The authors also focus on how Indigenous methodologies are taken up in the context our College, as they believe their experiences are shared by many other institutions across the country. They also explore whether and how White researchers can be guided by Indigenous methodologies. The authors provide dialoguing around the content of texts, the impact on our thinking in relation to research, and how to position ourselves vis-a-vis research requirements in their program and discipline. Indigenous epistemologies seize and re-center the origination of knowledge and critique Eurocentric discourses. Indigenous communities understand quite well that the university operates outside their futurities, depending instead on their vulnerabilities to extract knowledge and posit fixes.
