ABSTRACT
By examining the preserved judicial protocols from four Danish market towns, villages and hundreds, the chapter aims to investigate the fight against murderers, thieves and violent criminals in the northern part of Jutland from 1600–1700. Furthermore, the chapter examines the means and institutions in the form of judges, courthouses and prisons, which were used to combat crime and criminals.
