ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a general discussion of what people enjoy watching on television. Many people in the UK got their first television so that they could watch the Queen’s Coronation. The people are asked to describe the circumstances surrounding this event and others events such as royal weddings. Some well-known television theme tunes are collected. These theme tunes are utilized from each decade from the 1960s onwards. Alternatively, a recording of radio theme tunes or themes is utilized from major films. After each tune has been identified, the participants’ memories of the film or programme are discussed. Pictures of well-known film stars could be included in the display of photos, together with group members’ accounts of going to the cinema when younger.
