ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses a set of activities in which a number of celebrations appropriate for the group members are chosen. Those in the group familiar with the traditions for particular occasions can provide information for others about the meaning of the event and the preparations that need to be made. If a religious festival is not an appropriate celebration for the group, a different occasion, such as one year since the memory sharing group started, is found. Some religious groups prohibit their members from celebrating festivals related to religions other than their own. Also, not all denominations within a religion will celebrate all festivals. For example, not all Christians celebrate Christmas. It is better to avoid making assumptions about any religious or cultural traditions.
