ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses an activity in which a map, where each person lived as a child, is identified. Different coloured stickers are put on for each person and a key, giving the person’s name and where they were brought up, is attached. A comparison is made for some photos of the local area as it used to be with the present photos. The internet can be a very useful resource for obtaining such pictures. The main features of a community are determined by whether it was rural, urban or suburban, and the time period captured in the ‘map’. For people who have known the same community over a number of years, two maps could be produced showing how things have changed. A larger map could be produced if one area is familiar to all group members.
