Given that the harp is your instrument, I thought I’d begin by asking about its role in your work as an improviser. Do you feel, as Derek Bailey said, ‘the instrument is man’s best friend, both a tool and a helper, a collaborator’, or that it intrudes ‘between the player and the music’?1
