ABSTRACT

Big data are becoming ubiquitous and pervasive. They have an impact on everyday life and their use presupposes a unique set of skills. This chapter provides a critical perspective of big data, including the need for big data literacy. It then traces the evolution of big data in management and its application in various HRM functions. In the process, it introduces the tools to build knowledge from big data to lay the ground for a sense-making intersubjective communication of big data-based cognition and to find an ethically sound approach to the use of big data in business.
