ABSTRACT

The ageing process is a social and political construct, informed by types of social division of labour which are persisting or being reproduced between men and women. The evolution of men and women's career trajectories throughout the life cycle, and of their responsibilities in more unstable families, place men and women in socially different conditions when facing ageing. In this context, the research questions being posed in this part of the work aim to study the content and effects of changes in the relationship between men and women in the Mediterranean, sorting out the factors conducive to greater male/female equality and those characteristic of a reproduction of current asymmetric models.
