ABSTRACT

New technologies allow for innovative opportunities in how consultation, supervision, and professional training may be delivered and accessed by consumers and providers. Despite the potential benefits of using new forms of technology (e.g., videoconferencing, email, telephone, data storage), there are several practical issues that must be considered and addressed in order to successfully implement technology use in practice. The chapter highlights current research on the identified benefits of implementing new technology in practice, practical issues that can be viewed as potential barriers to implementing these services, and recommended practice guidelines to implement various technologies into general practice in school and university settings. Future directions for incorporating new technology in practice are also discussed.
