ABSTRACT

There is a growing need to provide professional services in a number of settings, such as hospitals and classrooms. While the need for services is increasing, it can be difficult to achieve the goal of providing adequate care when there are limited qualified personnel. The development of Telepresence Robotics has made it that professionals can go beyond videoconferencing and more closely mimic an in-vivo experience. This chapter will discuss what components are necessary to successfully use Telepresence Robotics as well as the current research base and considerations for future practice.
