ABSTRACT

The primary focus of the sticker activity is for students to identify how people are left out of groups. Students may also use this activity when they provide group counseling. This chapter suggests that students will understand how cliques form and how some individuals are left out of groups. There needs to be enough participants for several subgroups to be formed. A minimum of 15 participants to a maximum of 50 would be suggested. The setting can be any classroom setting. Participants will be asked to stand up and move around the room, so there needs to be enough space for them to do that. The instructor will need stickers in five different colors. The activity calls on the sticker being placed on the participant’s forehead, but some participants may not be comfortable with that. In that case, place the sticker on the shoulder where the participant still cannot see it.
