ABSTRACT

Participants will identify and develop a deeper understanding of oppression and how its various forms operate in the context of diverse sociocultural groups. Participants will be able to clearly express and process personal experiences related to oppression and its five components. Prior to starting the activity, the facilitator will prepare slips of papers with labels of various sociocultural groups. The facilitator will break up the participants into four to six groups, each group containing no less than two participants. The facilitator will then have each group randomly choose a slip of paper to select one of the sociocultural groups. The facilitator will have the groups come back together and reform into a large discussion circle.
