ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to understand the World Cafe Method as an effective conversational process that promotes collaborative group learning. It provides students' understanding of ways to engage, promote social and economic justice, and innovative approaches and counseling strategies to underserved and homeless populations. This activity can be used in a variety of beginning and advanced counseling courses. With regard to counseling underserved and homeless families, this activity can be applied in a Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling course. Larger groups might need more time for the group discussions. Time required for this activity depends on the group size and the purpose of the World Cafe. Invite the students to break into small groups at separate tables, and ask each table of students to pick a host. The host will stay at the table while the other students rotate from one table to another.
