ABSTRACT

In continuous improvement by improving continuously (CIBIC), configuration always precedes development, unless chosen otherwise for specific reasons. Referred to as customization by some, personalization by others, and transformation by the chosen few, the science, art, and practice of configuration have no equal. This science, practice, and art, which is commonly referred to as configuration, highlights the need for customization as a critical driver of excellence. The dynamic nature of the expectations, objectives, outer qualities, and chaotic realities makes the science, practice, and art of configuration a perpetually challenging endeavor. While the inner drivers, collective attributes, outer qualities, and core competencies are the available resources for achieving excellence, only the proper configuration of these resources can guarantee that excellence. By itemizing expectations, capabilities, attribute relevance, and development needs, the required expectations summary (REX) promotes the efficient structure and effective standardization that promotes the configuration endeavors.
